Monster Queen Bee

For years, we've believed the anecdotes we have heard to be the rule. Stories of local bee "experts" attempting to set up queen rearing programs and failing miserably are the norm at our local county bee club meetings. We knew of the Fat Bee Man and his success, but thought his system was an outlier. That is, until we met our neighbor, Steve. Steve has 50 nucs, half of which are literally 1 mile away from our property, where he is successfully raising queens to sell on craigslist. We bought one from him, as well as some woodenware. He is a student of the Fat Bee Man and is proving that that program will work anywhere.
We had a couple swarms and we decided to let the new hives queen themselves. The results were ASTOUNDING! Our queens are so fat that it is hard to imagine how they get their butts into the brood cells.
Ain't she pretty?
We will be building nucs this winter in preparation for the spring. The above hive will be split into up to ten queen rearing machines, and if we are successful, we will grow our queen rearing operation as far as space and the market will permit.
